Side Effects :
Usually, turmeric does not cause any serious side effects. But, some people may experience stomach upset, nausea, dizziness, or diarrhea. In one report, a person who took very high amounts of turmeric, over 1500 mg twice daily, experienced a dangerous abnormal heart rhythm. However, it is unclear if turmeric was the actual cause of the problem.
It is not always enough to consume only Turmeric. Because without fat the active component in turmeric has a difficult time getting absorbed and making it into the bloodstream. Hence, it is advisable to use it with fat because turmeric is fat-soluble.
The permissible dosages of various forms of turmeric (for adults): Cut root: 1.5 – 3 g per day; Dried, powdered root: 1 – 3 g per day; Standardized powder (curcumin): 400 – 600 mg, 3 times per day; Fluid extract (1:1) 30 – 90 drops a day; Tincture (1:2): 15 – 30 drops, 4 times per day
